Boy-Girl Relationship (BGR) Guidelines
HCC has an awesome responsibility to shepherd over their members in the area of dating, courtship and marriage. We are accountable to God and their parents since they have been entrusted into our care.
Living at the threshold of the 21st century and with the invasion of demoralizing values through the mass media, it is vitally important for us as Christians to realize that we are not exempted from such worldly temptations. With the increase of pre-marital sex among youths at an alarming rate all over Malaysia, HCC has an obligation to counsel, advise and set guidelines for its members.
GENERAL POLICIES
For members under 18 years old:- Dating is very strongly discouraged.
- Our advice is to wait until they are older (start working).
For members 19 years old and above:
- They are free to date any born-again Christian as they feel led by the Holy Spirit, however....
- They are expected to seek pastoral counselling from Pastor.
- These guidelines are flexible and each case is judged by its own merit.
BASIC GUIDELINES
- The Bible does not approve of dating between a Christian and an unbeliever. (2 Cor 6:14-15).
- Physical touching between male and female is strongly discouraged (except occasional gentle tapping on the arms to get attention).
- Counselling and praying alone between opposite sexes is strongly discouraged.
- Place hands on the head and hands only (arms) as a point of contact when praying for each other.
- For those already courting, please refrain from exhibiting extreme physical intimacy such as kissing, hugging, caressing during a church service.
- Hugging between the opposite sexes is definitely Out! Out! Out!
- General Rule: Do not do anything you know your parents, lecturers and heavenly Father will frown upon.
